Our Mission – Lëtzebuerger Natur- a Vulleschutzliga a.s.b.l.
The Lëtzebuerger Natur- a Vulleschutzliga a.s.b.l. was founded in 1920 and, with currently 13,000 members, is one of the leading nature conservation organisations in Luxembourg. As there is a close link between birds and the habitats they depend on, LNVL works for nature conservation in general. More particularly, we feel concerned about:
- field ornithology and species protection,
- biotope networking,
- nature conservation in settled areas,
- forestry and agricultural land use policies,
- the protection of the countryside and landscape planning,
- international conservation issues relating to birds and the natural environment.
LNVL is the official partner of BirdLife International in Luxembourg.
LNVL also works in the following fields:
- spreading awareness of conservation concerns,
- e.g. through its magazine Regulus,
- scientific studies and assessments on all aspects of conservation,
- conservation projects in cooperation with other environmental organisations,
- improvement of legislation through intensive contact with ministries and authorities concerned with environmental protection,
- preparing policy documents on sensitive issues like hunting,
- re-parcelling of agricultural land etc.
- encouraging young people to work with the organisation (Regulus Junior-Club).
The LNVL is politically neutral.
